The GranTurismo Convertible (known as the GranCabrio outside of the U.S. market) is the embodiment of Maserati. This soft-top carries an unmistakable Pininfarina design, spacious interior, handcrafted details, driving pleasure and high performances.
The GranTurismo Convertible is powered by the company’s top-level 4.7-liter V8, making 433-hp. This seems to indicate that unlike Maserati’s other models, the 405-hp 4.2-liter V8 will not be offered. What this also may indicate is that a possible GranCabrio S model could make even more power. After all, with the added weight of the necessary chassis stiffening required in a drop-top, the 433-hp will deliver performance on par with the base-engine coupe.
The shape of the GranTurismo Convertible is the result of extensive aerodynamic testing aimed at limiting the drag typical of drop-top cars. Cabin design is covered in leather that was handcrafted by Poltrona Frau and a selection of prestigious wood trim used for the dashboard, door panel and rear areas.
The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible features a six-speed, ZF automatic transmission with a hydraulic torque converter yielding quick and fluid gear shifts while maintaining the characteristics of the sporty 4.7-liter V8 engine.
Sales of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible will begin in spring 2010.
