Mercedes-Benz AMG in cooperation with prestigious hi-fi specialist Bang & Olufsen have developed a custom-designed sound system for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end sound system, which is available on request with the SLS AMG, gives the gullwing model’s occupants a very special hi-fi experience.

The BeoSound AMG high-end sound system has a total output of 1,000 watts, eleven loudspeakers and customizable sound distribution. The music signals can be distributed to the driver’s seating position, the passenger’s seating position or to a central point, as selected. It also includes two amplifiers and two subwoofers for an enriching sound. The entire system is controlled via a 17.8 cm COMAND APS color display specially created by Bang and Olufsen.
The algorithm used for the digital sound processor allows a choice to be made between the high-end ‘Reference’ studio sound system and voluminous surround sound. In addition, the sound fields can be directed precisely to the driver’s seating position, the passenger’s seating position or to a central point.

The BeoSound AMG features illuminated, lens-shaped 50-watt tweeters in the instrument panel and the two subwoofers built into the parcel shelf, while the “Silver Shadow” metallic loudspeaker covers wears the Bang & Olufsen logo signal. Upon powering on, its color display monitor in the dashboard illuminates the AMG logo for a couple of seconds and depending on the setting, it will show a high-resolution map, music information or a keypad for telephone.
It also boasts of a DVD player on board with an optional 6 disc DVD changer. Below the DVD, it has a memory card slot for its music files. Mp3 players like iPod can also be connected to the player through its Media interface. Mercedes-Benz has fused Comand Aps with the Linguatronic system that is voice controlled together with a Bluetooth function.
According to the Press Release, The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG music system for the SLS AMG Gullwing will be on the market for €7,021 (including 19% VAT).
