It isn’t too long that the all new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been launched. But celebrated Limousine manufacturer Binz has already got into doing what it does best – it has stretched the Merc E-Class all the way up to 5,979mm which is about 1,100mm more than what the standard version of the executive sedan measures. Binz, which is based in Southern German, is known to specialize in modifying cars for special services, including ambulances, hearses and fire-fighting vehicles.
The extra meter of the Binz 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Limousine turns the car from a 4-door sedan into a 6-door limo with three rows of seats, increasing the passenger capacity to seven if you count the driver too. The two individual middle row seats can be placed to face forward or backward. The two doors, which were added for the car to be more practical, required the engineers to rethink the entire bodywork to keep a high level of torsional rigidity. This had to be done, especially since the central pillar needed to be displaced.
The E-Class Limousine will be offered with varying levels of armoring and equipment to meet safety and comfort standards. This included the dividing leather-covered wall between the driver and the passenger compartment. Three seat-setting options will be available: 6-Door Limousine, where the passengers on the second row face the driver, Vis-a-Vis Limousine where the passengers on the second row face those on the third and Individual Limousine which comes without the second row of seats.
This stretched Mercedes E Class limo will be available with three engine options: a 2.2L turbo diesel that is able to develop 204 HP, a 3.5L V6 petrol engine which delivers 292 HP and a more powerful, top of the range 5.5L V8 petrol engine able to produce 388 HP. The engine will be electronically limited, meaning the driver won’t be hooning around town while you’re in the office.
