The Galactic rang holds a place of its own within the Breitling world. While designed to project a more “cosmopolitan” appearance than any of the brand’s other wrist instruments, all Galactic models are nonetheless endowed with the finest assets in terms of their reliability and accuracy. The largest watch in this range, the Galactic 41 is intended for those whose activities do not necessarily require chronograph functions, but who nonetheless wish to wear a watch that is both extremely sporty and impeccably elegant in their everyday life.
After years of upping the ante both size wise and in terms of aggressive styling, the Galactic 41 collection (also coming in several smaller sizes for women) is a more approachable design that is very pure to Breitling DNA. There are a number of styles for this 41mm wide steel (also available in two-tone with steel and gold) watch. Along with the iconic pilot style steel bracelet (or leather strap), the watch features Breitling’s updated diver style bezel – that became popular on their Chronomat B01 models from a few years ago.
The dials are extremely legible – more so that many other modern Breitling watches. This is hands to decorative, though uncluttered dials that have lume applied and polished applied hour markers, as well as large polished hands. Like many Breitling watches the case is all highly polishing for that signature glossy-all-over look. Another distinctive feature of the Galactic 41 is its double-window calendar clearly displaying the date.
Inside the watch is Breitling’s Calibre 49 automatic movement – that is a Swiss ETA 2896 automatic with a big date complication. The movement has been COSC Chronometer certified as well. The Galactic 41 is also designed to be sturdy and functional, equipped with the finest Breitling technology including a screw-locked crown,screwed in caseback and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides. And while on the topic of performances, the Galactic 41 is built to withstand pressures of 30 bars, equivalent to a depth of 1,000 ft (300 meters).
