U.S.-based Atlantic Yachts has contracted with Rolls-Royce’s Marine division to design and engineer a new line of superyachts dubbed the NVC 85 Y. The 85-metre craft will be built by Germany’s Nobiskrug GmbH while Atlantic’s founder Paul Madden, formerly of Blohm + Voss (builders of Roman Abramovich’s gigayacht Eclipse) will oversee the project.
The main leverage will be to reduce fuel consumption and reduce environmental impact. The basis of the yacht is the hydro-dynamically efficient hull from Rolls-Royce. It not only promises high performance, but is also completely safe and reliable. The company brings with itself 30-odds years of experience. The owner can personalize the crafts using their own ideas and the designer too can include his talent into the design to make it an exclusive build.
The 85-metre steel yacht will ccommodate 12 guests, 22 crew and will be powered by two Rolls-Royce engines for trial speeds of 19.5 knots and service speeds of 17 knots. Joe Killian’s Killian Yacht & Ship Brokers has been selected to represent the new line of yachts to the brokerage community. Mr. Killian states, The NVC 85 Y is an icon of excellence in the world of yachting, where compromise is not an option. Killian specialises in providing clients with seaworthy, well-designed vessels – and we are excited to be involved with these renowned maritime companies.
While no price has yet been named, Killian Yacht & Ship Brokers will handle sales beginning with the first completed hull in 2012.
