From residing in lavish mansions to holidaying in the most exotic locales, the uber rich folk’s, like to stand apart and away from the rest. One way to do this is by owning your very own private island. So if you are one of those filthy rich folks interested in splurging on a private island, you can definitely not go wrong with the Scott Island.
Just three miles across the Stuart Channel from the Vancouver Island town of Chemainus, Scott Island is a tree-covered, 5.26-acre gem, easily accessible by boat, floatplane, or helicopter. A large 4,541-square foot mansion is the main residence on this island. The mansion boasts of five bedrooms, six bathrooms, an octagonal great room, an open and airy kitchen and a separate living room with a brick fireplace.
Attached is a 1,644-square foot, self-contained caretaker’s wing with two bedrooms and two bathrooms of its own. Both the main residence and caretaker’s section have large wrap-around decks and all upstairs bedrooms have balconies. Best of all, most rooms have southwest views for taking in the awesome sunsets over Vancouver Island and the Pacific beyond.
If you ever get tired of lazing around the plush home you can play on the island’s full-size tennis court, or go hiking and bird watching or enjoy some water activities like kayaking, swimming, diving, fishing, and crabbing in the waters offshore. But the best feature of the island is definitely the large and protected all-weather and all-tide harbor.
