Lambo fans, take note: Lamborghini has announced it’s built the 10,000th Gallardo. On June 25th, the 10,000th such Luc Donckerwolke-designed sports car rolled off the factory line. Workers dubbed it Lamborghini Day and crowded around the Midas yellow painted car for a photo op.
10,000th Lamborghini Gallardo
The super car has been declared Top Gear’s Dream Car of the Year twice (2006 and 2009), and currently boasts a top speed of 201 miles per hour and can reach from 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds. The sports car is a dream car for many, and is known to have a long waiting list.
The Gallardo, which was launched in 2003, was initially offered as the Gallardo Coupe. This was followed by the Spyder and Superleggera models, and special editions such as the Gallardo SE and the Nera. It was in 2007 that the current 560-4 (a permanent four-wheel drive) was revealed. This was followed by the Spyder LP 560-4 in 2008, and the limited edition two-wheel drive LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni in 2009. Earlier this year, Lamborghini unveiled the lightweight Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera at the Geneva Motor Show, which can hit a top speed of 325km/h.
The 10,000th Lamborghini Gallardo rolled off Lamborghini’s factory in Sant’Agata in Italy, and destined for a customer in China.
