Limited Edition Lotus Exos Type 125
Now it’s not just Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli that can drive a Lotus Formula 1 car. Lotus has chosen the Monterey Motorsports Pre-Reunion as the location to unveil their Lotus Exos Type 125. It is an F1 inspired track car powered by a Cosworth V8 engine and clothed in a carbon fiber body.
With a price-tag of around £650,000 ($1,027,200), it doesn’t come cheap but a whole host of hi-tech kit ensures you get your money’s worth. Power comes from a 650bhp V8 Cosworth engine that can rev to 10,300rpm and a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis keeps weight down to just 1433 pounds. That means the power to weight ratio stands at around 1000bhp/tonne.
With a look that includes the coke bottle shape, top exit exhaust, shark fin engine covers, carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fibre pushrod suspension, the newcomer bears a resemblance to 2009-spec F1 cars. What is more, Limited Edition Lotus Exos Type 125 does not need constant maintenance checkups, as service intervals are set at every 4500km.
However, you have to hurry as it is a limited edition restricted to just 25 examples, and each will come with invitations to five driver events at racetracks around the world where buyers can get to grips with the hardcore trackday car. The first 10 units will be delivered in the spring of 2011 and the other 15 Lotus Exos Type 125 in the summer of the same year.
