Luxottica Prescription 3D Glasses
Italian eyewear maker Luxottica announced it would produce the world’s first ever line of 3D glasses that can be made to fit individual eyeglass prescription through its US brand Oakley. The glasses, which will be released later this year, will be tested in conjunction with DreamWorks Animation Studios. The first pairs of 3D glasses will be available in the US later this year and will be launched in the rest of the world in 2011.
According to the Luxottica, the glasses will work on all 3D films and for 3D television programming, and can be made to carry the same prescription lenses a user’s regular glasses use.
In addition to the first optically correct 3D eyewear in the world, Oakley has achieved the first 3D lenses ever made with high-wrap curvature, essential for maximizing the wearer’s field of vision.
