Holden Efijy V-8
Five years old and still able to turn heads, Holden Efijy hot rod will take pride of place at the first international Motorclassica Concours d’Elegance and Classic Motorshow in Melbourne, Australia later this month. First launched at the Sydney Motor Show in 2005, 21st century concept Efijy boasts V8 Supercar power under the bonnet, a Chevrolet Corvette underbody and state-of-the-art automotive technology.
The Soprano Purple paintwork highlights its curvaceous17 feet body, reinterpreting the classic design cues of the iconic 1953 FJ Holden. The technology matches the larger-than-life design cues with a 650 hp, supercharged six-litre V8 engine, air-adjustable shock absorbers, touch control LCD screen and fan-cooled LED headlamps.
The slick looking concept vehicle has picked up a raft of awards including South East Automotive Media Organization’s 2007 North American Concept Car of the Year and Hot Rod magazine’s Hot Rod of the Year. The latter described it as, probably the most beautiful concept car ever. Evidence that Australians are successful in modifying classic American car is Custom 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville.
Holden Chief Designer and Efijy creator Richard Ferlazzo said the company was honoured to have the Australian concept vehicle chosen to be a part of such a prestigious event. The Motorclassica event will take place in the Royal Exhibition Buildings at Melbourne’s Carlton Gardens from the 22nd to the 24th of October.
