McLaren SLR 999 adorned with a gold plated finish of more than 5 kg
Trends in gold-plated car gathering popularity. And once again the target premium cars that alone is worth the original tower. Swiss car designers Ueli Anliker have taken the Mercedes McLaren SLR 999 and literally upgraded it to gold status. After making an appearance at the Tuning World Bodensee in May, the McLaren SLR 999 is off to wow folks at the Dortmund MY Car tuning show.
With over 11 pounds of gold detail and 600 rubies, this McLaren SLR 999 has an estimated value of $5.2 million. The Anliker McLaren has exhaust tips and rims coated with 24-carat gold, and the Anliker logos that are present at a number of places in the car are covered in gold as well.
Performance enhancements come with a new front splitter, a rear spoiler, a new diffuser and engine tuning. The new front splitter, an excellent match for the SLR’s styling, adds 220 Lbs of downforce at the vehicle’s top speed: 217 MPH. That 9 MPH increase is thanks to engine tuning which brings the power up to 999 hp. At the rear, a small increase in spoiler size and a revised diffuser, accented with gold trim, increase downforce by 80kg.
500 LEDs have gone into the bodywork to enhance visibility, well, you don’t want to get a single scratch on that thing… ever.
