Michel Cluizel’s Chocolate Set
Michel Cluizel, the French chocolate house, has created the ultimate chocolate gift for the holidays. It features 400 pieces of handmade chocolate, weighing in at almost 10 pounds, in specially designed packages. For $895 buyers can select from a range of mouth-watering treats, including the crème brûlée made of ganache with caramelized butter, palet framboise combining dark chocolate ganache and raspberry pulp, palet passion made with milk chocolate ganache and passion-fruit pulp and palet au miel made of ganache with chestnut honey.
The family-owned business was established in 1948 in the family’s Normandy attic, where they made truffles. Today, the Michel Cluizel imports fair-trade cocoa beans to its Normandy workshop, where a team of 200 employees prepare the delicacies by roasting the cocoa beans then shelling them into cocoa nib to make the chocolates. Michel Cluizel opened its first U.S. store last year at 584 5th Avenue, near Rockefeller Center.
