Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept
According to a report by German magazine Der Spiegel, Bugatti will develop a new luxury sedan for 2014, based on the Audi A8. Now that Audi and Porsche are responsible for all the luxury models in the Volkswagen Group, the future Bugatti sedan will end up being built on the same platform as the Audi A8. Being a Bugatti model, it will be limited to only 300 units and will carry a price tag similar to the Veyron, meaning that only few of us will have the chance to actually drive one.
The new sedan model, may still take its inspiration from the 16C Galibier concept (pictured here) which Bugatti unveiled in 2009. Following the footsteps of the outrageous Veyron, the Galibier features a 16-cylinder motor in a W-configuration displacing a whopping 8.0 liters. And as if that wasn’t enough, engineers also slapped on dual two-stage superchargers – replacing the quad-turbocharger setup found on the Veyron. Official horsepower figures have not been disclosed, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a number between 800 and 1,000 hp.
The sedan model will feature design elements from the Bugatti’s latest concept, the 16 C Galibier. The 16 C concept features the traditional Bugatti radiator complimented by big round LED lit headlamps and the clamshell running the length of the vehicle, which became synonymous with the brand identity under Jean Bugatti in the Type 57.
