John Lennon’s Ferrari 330 GT
With the automotive world’s attention directed at the Detroit Auto Show, it becomes easy to miss important items that aren’t directly involved with the 2011 NAIAS. This is one of them.
A 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe, which was the first car that John Lennon bought on passing his driving test in 1965, is to be sold at Bonhams’ Paris sale of Motor Cars on February 5, 2011 at the Grand Palais. More than just being driven by the legendary Beatles frontman, this particular Ferrari also happened to be Lennon’s very first car.
In the mid 1990s, John Lennon’s Ferrari 330 GT has been restored closely to original specification, said Bonhams in a statement, although it noted that the exterior paint is a deeper hue of blue. The car was repainted red at one time by an unnamed owner. The original specification included blue carpets, light gray headliner, a Webasto sunroof and overdrive.
Bonhams’ Paris will sell this beautiful light blue Ferrari purchased for £2,000 ($3,120) for an estimated price between €120,000 and €170,000 ($155,000 – 220,000). [Bonhams]
