Breitling Montbrillant 01
Breitling opens a new chapter in the history of the Montbrillant Chronograph 01 by equipping it for the first time with the Calibre 01, fully developed and manufactured in its workshops. Available in steel or rose gold, the chronograph is modeled on the 1940s and 50s design spotting a circular slide rule for pilots, and gets its name from the Montbrillant Street, in the heights of La Chaux-de-Fonds, where Breitling workshops where located between 1892 and 1979.
The watch, which is planned to be officially revealed in March at Baselworld 2011 show, will be presented in a mid-sized round case 40 millimeters in diameter. As usual, the watch will feature a traditional fluted bezel meant to operate an internal circular slide rule. The Mercury Silver dial features elegant hands, the traditional central hundredth of a second counter, and an 18K gold version of the stylized B that served as the brand symbol until the mid-20th century. A transparent sapphire crystal caseback provides generous views of Breitling’s Caliber 01, chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).
The Swiss watch brand plans to produce Montbrillant 01 Chronograph as a limited edition model, which is going to be presented both in stainless steel (2000 pieces) and 18-carat rose gold (200 pieces), with the individual number engraved at 9 o’clock on the case middle.
