Jessica Simpson may not be doing too well in her music and acting careers, but her fashion line has never been better. According to an article in New York Magazine that will hit shelves on February 21, the famous pop singer”s fashion empire raked in $750 million last year, and it”s expected to push to a huge $1 billion this year as she expands her collection.
Jessica first launched the line in 2007 with a range of boots, bags and shoes. The company has since grown drastically, selling clothing, watches, cosmetics, luggage, fragrances and bathing suits in numerous department stores throughout the United States.
Simpson is set to expand her brand even further. Next fall, she’s planning to launch a new line of contemporary sportswear including jackets, woven and knit bottoms, tops and dresses, all priced from $39 to $129. This new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun, Simpson said.
And if the sales do indeed hit the 1 billion mark, the range will be become the first ever celebrity fashion line to do so. That means Simpson”s volume of sales would rival fashion titan Michael Kors, reports the New York Daily News. [Jessica Simpson Collection]
