When shoe designers run out of ideas, they looking for inspiration everywhere, but in the horse’s hoof?! Shoes made in the style of real horses’ feet and legs are to be sold at the National Hunt Festival in Cheltenham from today until March 18. It`s not a joke!
The zip-up hoof shoes were commissioned the celebrate 100 years of the racing festival and come in knee and ankle-length versions. Each of the ‘Horseshoes for Humans‘ features a imitation carbon fibre hoof and are stitched with around 5,000 individual horse hairs.
Three pairs will be sold for £1,300 (about $2,100) each. The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Prostate Cancer Charity. The only good thing in the whole story!
Spokesman Andy Lulham said: As one of the most prestigious events in the horse racing calendar we wanted to celebrate the centenary of Cheltenham in style. We’re upping the fashion – and betting – stakes this festival. Not only will our punters win bigger with Betfair, but they’ll also be a shoe-in for best dressed on course.
Louise Dainton, 25, from Essex, who posed on a turf catwalk wearing the human horse shoes, said: They are really comfortable and make you feel like you want to get on the track and gallop down the final furlong. I’m not sure they are for everyone, but I definitely want a pair of hooves.
I definitely don’t want this horse hoof shoes, actually I’d rather pay the $2,100 not to wear! [Daily Mail]
