The Dalmore Castle Leod Whisky
Dalmore Castle Leod is the second in a line of limited edition bottles of whisky, in which some of the proceeds are used to help return the Scottish castle to its former glory. This is the second in a series crafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson in homage to Clan Mackenzie.
The idea came out after the successful launch last year of the brand’s Mackenzie expression, which saw 3,000 bottles sell out in less than nine months across the world, raising more than £20,000 towards castle restoration and other clan projects.
Castle Leod has been home to the Caberfeidh, Chief of the Clan Mackenzie, since 1606 and is located just 14 miles from the The Dalmore Distillery. The Dalmore Castle Leod is a classic Vintage 1995 expression that was matured initially in American white oak and Spanish sherry wood, before being transferred for a final 18 months to barriques from a legendary 1st cru classe Bordeaux chateau.
Only 5,000 bottles will be available and the average retail price will be around $160, and according to Richard Paterson, the creator of this new release, this one will sell even faster than the Mackenzie whisky. [The Dalmore]
