Bruce Springsteen’s 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
Fans of Bruce Springsteen will be delighted to hear that the orange-flame painted 1957 Chevrolet Convertible that once belonged to The Boss is going up for auction. The famous car was the inspiration for classic Bruce Springsteen songs like Jungleland and Born to Run and was featured in his popular 1975 Time and Newsweek cover stories.
Springsteen sold the car in 1976 to a private buyer for $2,000 and that buyer then sold it for $10,000 in the 80’s to a Chevy collector. The auction description states it comes with the original vehicle registration, temporary insurance card and Allstate insurance card in Bruce’s name. It also states the current owner has invested over $35,000 in overhauling the mechanical and electrical systems of the car, the body and frame are untouched just the way Springsteen owned it. The motor was replaced with a custom built GM 350, a single barrel chrome plated carburetor by Edelbrock was installed.
Springsteen’s former 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible will be sold at a charity auction after being stored in the Museum Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland which runs until March 25. This sale will offer to other lots that belonged to Springsteen and other famous personalities such as moccasins Leopard King, Michael Jackson Stage Worn “Triumph” Tour Swarovski Studded Riding Helmet…!
