First Ever Portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ
It is quite possible after lying for nearly 2,000 years hidden in a cave in the Holy Land, the first ever portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ was unveiled. Bible historians trying to determine whether this is true and if so it would be a significant finding.
Vague portrait of a young man with curly hair bearing the crown of thorns is contained among a hoard of at least 70 booklets that were found in a cave in the hills overlooking Lake Kinneret, and contain on them ancient Hebrew script. One booklet, reportedly, bears the words Savior of Israel. The booklets were discovered originally in Jordanian town Saham, less than 100 miles from Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were found.
The discoveries were supposedly made between 2005 and 2007, when a flash flood exposed two nooks inside the cave, containing the booklets, metal plates and scrolls.
The director of Jordan’s Department of Antiquities, Ziad al-Saad, believes the booklets were made by Jesus’s followers shortly after his death. He said: They will really match, and perhaps be more significant than the Dead Sea Scrolls. The initial information is very encouraging and it seems that we are looking at a very important and significant discovery – maybe the most important discovery in the history of archaeology.
Hassan Saida, resident of Arab village Umm al-Ghanim, owns a cache of booklets with incredible discovery. He has refused to sell them but two samples were sent to England and Switzerland for testing. Mr Saida claims the books, containing cryptic messages in Hebrew and Ancient Greek, have been in his family since they were found by his greatgrandfather. He denies smuggling them out of Jordan.
