Oprah Winfrey and the Obamas on Oprah Winfrey Show
Billionaire and queen of American talk show, Oprah Winfrey is preparing for the final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show next month. The asking price for a 30-second opportunity to reach viewers on Winfrey’s final daytime talk show is currently at $1 million.
Oprah is hoping to finish her TV show on a high note on May 25, three weeks after her old pals Barack and Michelle Obama will be guests. The Obamas will appear together next month in their first joint appearance on her sofa in five years. One million dollars for the 30 second ad in the last episode of the talk of Oprah, is placed between the more expensive in the last 20 years, for the finale of a show. That’s nearly 18 times more than the show’s recent asking price of $57,400, as reported by Nielsen earlier in the season.
Therefore, Oprah could beat the record held by the season finale of “Lost” on the ABC network, which commanded $900,000 for 30 seconds of advertising. The 2004 series finale of Friends still hold the record, though. Commercials sold for $2 million a pop to reach an audience of 52.5 million people.
Oprah Winfrey is departing her afternoon talk show to focus on a cable channel she started. The 24-hour Oprah Winfrey Network began in January with programs including The Gayle King Show, Kidnapped by the Kids and Addicted to Food.
