Limited Edition Yuri Gagarin Pens by Montegrappa
On April 12, 1961, Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man to complete an orbit of the Earth. In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that historical moment, Montegrappa, one of the Italy’s most reputed manufacturers of fine writing instruments, has unveiled a new set of limited edition pens.
These pens engraved with the image of Yuri Gagarin becomes available in 18K gold or silver. The caps of the pens feature the coat of arms of the USSR. The pocket clip is edged by reproductions of Moscow’s monument to Yuri Gagarin, which was completed in 1980. The Yuri Gagarin Limited Edition Pen was originally intended to be part of the new Cosmopolitan collection but has now been elevated to a stand-alone limited-edition set.
Both the roller ball and the fountain pen arrive in wood presentation boxes. The lid of the box is embellished with a metal plaque bearing an engraved image of Yuri Gagarin along with a commemorative message in Cyrillic characters. The box for the fountain pen also includes a complimentary bottle of ink. The Montegrappa Yuri Gagarin collection includes 1,961 silver fountain pens, 1,961 silver roller balls, 50 solid 18K gold fountain pens and 50 solid 18K gold roller balls.
The new addition to Montegrappa’s range will be launched at the wonderfully named Fountain Pen Hospital’s Spring Pen Expo to be held April 15-16 at the Fountain Pen Hospital (the largest individual pen store in the USA), 10 Warren Street, New York 10007. [Montegrappa]
