British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton bought the gold Fender Stratocaster guitar of singer Prince at an auction for $100,000.
Talking about the purchase on George Lopez Tonight, a US chat show, the singer explained that he decided to let go of his Fender Stratocaster in order to raise money for charity. Prince admitted: We got $100,000 for that, brother Lewis Hamilton, the racing car driver. It will be hard to part with.
Prince, who also performed on the show with his band The New Power Generation, has earlier announced a 21-date residency in Los Angeles. He also emphasised the affordable ticket prices for the 21-shows, which at $25 are a far cry from the cost of Prince shows in the past, such as his residency at London’s O2 Arena in 2007. [Daily Mail]
