FlyNano – Single-seat Fun Flyer
In the near future, you can flight your own plane without needing a flying lessons or license. A Finnish aeronautical engineer, Aki Suokas, recently launched a new single-seat aircraft called the FlyNano at Aero Friedrichshafen. The FlyNano is made entirely of carbon fiber composite, lands and takes off on water, and weighs just 70 kilograms (154 pounds) ready to fly.
Three variants are available: a 20kW electric-only version, and petrol-engined 24 bhp and 35 bhp models, the latter proposed as a racing version. The innovative aircraft has a wingspan of nearly 5 meters, and the maximum takeoff weight is 200kg. The speed range is 70-140 km/h with a service ceiling of 3 km. Though the electric version has a limited range of 40 kilometers, the low speed torque and minimal vibration of the electric motor enables the low-speed four-blade prop to be whisper quiet, ensuring you’ll get no complaints from the neighbors.
With the most expensive version costing $39,000 (€27,000), it’s not going to be a toy for just anybody, but if you’d like to take to the skies and you’ve got the money, why not? A good news is that FlyNano is ready to take flight after three months, so if your dream is to fly anytime, book one today. [FlyNano]
