Presented at Milan design week 2011, Matières à Chaud (Hot Matters) is at the same time modern piece of art and a new variant in the field of home radiators. This concept is a series of 12 extraordinary pieces – matières à chaud – designed by Paris-based studio 5.5 designers.
Developed for the French innovation company Saazs, the Matières à Chaud radiators draw on innovative heat-conducting technology to tamp mega warmth into a single sheet of glass that’s incredibly only half an inch thick. A thin metal coating inside the glass, called Quantum Glass, emits infrared rays when zapped into action by an electrical current. The infrared rays then emit heat that’s roughly equivalent to that radiated by the sun and can be controlled with a thermostat or a digital controller.
The glass is designed with rods of steel, wood and marble which exhibit an artificial landscape attraction to this device. This collection comprises many different colors to the wooden bases and spikes.
This unique radiators are not cheap, but for $3,640 you will get not just a well heated room, but you will save on space and it can also serve as a modern indoor decorative item. [5.5 Designers]
