Special Edition Ferrari Superamerica 45
The one-off Ferrari Superamerica 45 make its public debut on Friday at the 2011 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Based on a standard Ferrari 599, its bespoke bodywork was specced by New York real estate magnate and Fez collector, Peter Kalikow, and includes a rotating hard-top. Now made in carbonfibre, instead of the earlier car’s glass, and incorporating a rear screen, it swivels to retract under a carbonfibre boot.
Other highlights include the Blu Antille exterior paint which is said to match the owners original 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica, special two-tone machined alloy wheels with Blu Antille accents, burnished aluminium A-pillars and side mirrors, and unique double gill vents on the front guards. The interior of the car has been customised to match the exterior and showcases Cuoio leather trim and Blu Scuro carbon fiber details. It also features Ferrari’s latest touchscreen infotainment system in the dash.
Ferrari insists that the Superamerica 45 is to remain what it describes as a unique one-off model. However, we’re guessing that its complex roof system, developed with the help of Pininfarina, could find its way onto a yet-to-be-confirmed limited-production version of the Ferrari 599.
