To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Italian fashion and leather goods label Gucci has launched new 1921 Watch Collection. The collection is named after the year in which Guccio Gucci founded the Florentine House and includes four female styles and two male styles belonging to the Gucci Coupe collection, designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini.
The Gucci 1921 collection boasts a design that fuses classic and contemporary: the sophisticated square shape of the timepiece references the aesthetics of the 1920s all the while creating a modern style. The 40mm case houses a Swiss made automatic movement which is most likely the ETA which are the most respectable amongst the Swiss movements and a Gucci favorite. The sleek, sport-inspired face shows the hour and minutes with a small second hand at 9 o’clock and circular date counter at 3 o’clock.
Each watch is distinguished by a unique leather-clad case, in a choice of black, dark brown, camel or white calfskin. Both the bracelet and the clasp feature Gucci’s iconic horsebit. The dial also bears the logo of Guccio Gucci’s signature at the top and the year 1921. Available in brown or black, leather straps are embossed with the diamante pattern designed around dial in either cream or black.
The special edition watches have been priced at $2,650. [Gucci]
