Ice Angel – Hessen Yachts’ New 50-meter Luxury Yacht

Dutch luxury superyacht builder Heesen is continuing on a successful roll in 2011 with another successful launch. The new launch is another member of the new 50-meter family of yachts. She will soon join her sistership, Satori which was delivered earlier this year. The final name of the new 50-meter luxury yacht is Ice Angel.

The 49.8m semi-displacement motor yacht is one of the few yachts of this length available with a gross tonnage of below 500 GT. Heesen’s Ice Angel has a sleek, hard-chine hull, featuring a pelican-beak bow and negative sheer. The design has been by Omega Architects with Naval Architecture by Heesen themselves. The interior work has been a collaboration between Omega and Domus Nova.  Superyacht Ice Angel, formerly known during her build as hull 15850, is built from aluminium and she has a semi-displacement platform with an impressive turn of speed.

Twelve guests are accommodated in 6 cabins, 5 of which (including a VIP suite which occupies the yacht’s full beam) are located on the lower deck, while the owner’s suite, that also occupies the full-beam, is located forward on the main deck. The main deck of Heesen motor yacht YN 15850 houses a formal saloon and dining area, while the upper deck is dedicated to more informal social areas. Here, an alfresco dining table can seat 16 guests in comfort while, adjacent, the extravagantly glazed circular sky lounge offers magnificent 270º panoramic views. Extraordinary amounts of open deck space are a particular feature of this yacht’s design. The 20-metre split-level sun deck features a luxurious Jacuzzi at its forward end, aft of which is a partially shaded bar and a sunbathing area equipped with steamer chairs.

The twin screw motor yacht has a beam of 9.00-meters and a draft of 2.50-meters. On the technical side, Ice Angel is likely to have a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M90 engines that possess the capability to push her to a 23 knot top speed. She can carry just under 70,000 LT of fuel with an economical range over 3,000 nautical miles.

Ice Angel does have a similar look as their earlier launch Satori but differs in her paint scheme which is a pur and simple black and white. The luxury yacht is ready in all respect and after some mandatory formalities should be delivered this summer.
