Freddie Mercury, the legendary front man of the Queen was born on September 5th. Fans, friends and family will gather at the Savoy Hotel, London on September 5th, 2011 to celebrate what would have been Freddie’s 65th birthday. In honor of the occasion, British supercar manufacturer Lotus has created a special edition of the Evora S model in honor of Freddie.
On the exterior, the Evora S model has a pearl white with red and gold racing stripes painting inspired by Mercury’s costume in the Magic Tour of 1986. The front fenders wear a representation of the sentence on the singer’s memorial statue in Montreux: Lover of life. Singer of songs. As for the inside, it dons a yellow scheme with union flags on the backs of the seats.
Lotus has donated a one-off Evora S for a charity auction with proceeds going to support the HIV AIDS charity fund, Mercury Phoenix Trust, which was founded by Queen members Brian May, Roger Taylor and manager Jim Beach after the superstar passed away.
We were only too happy to contribute to this fantastic cause, said Group Lotus Director of Corporate Operations Gino Rosato. We have created something very special to raise money for Mercury Phoenix Trust and we hope the car goes to a collector who really enjoys it.
