Leica Gun and Leica camera, once owned by famous author of many classics of American literature – Ernest Hemingway will be part of auction conducted by Tamarkin.
Leica Telephoto Assembly Rifle - The Leica Gun
Leica Gun is a product of the E. Leitz agency in New York, originally made for the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. It is the rarest of all accessories. Very few were made and even fewer have survived the last seventy years. The complete outfit includes a viewfinder (Nr 123), special base plating, 200 mm Telytf4.5 amongst its special additions. Estimated between $65,000-$100,000 at the auction.
Hemingway’s Leica camera was a gift, during an African trip, from Hemingway to his friend, Edison Marshall (1894-1967), a novelist specializing in adventure stories and, in 1921, an O’Henry First Prize-winning short story writer. This Leica IIIf Red dial self-timer camera had a 50mm f2 viewfinder and a NR1944043 coding. It incidentally is only the 20th black Leica to be ever produced. Estimated between $40,000-$80,000.
