A company called Mr. Kennedy has created something we probably won’t be buying – the world’s firse ever shoelaces made out of pure 24kt gold. The laces are handmade in Columbia and takes a whopping 120 hours to produce.
The luxury shoe laces, which are made using ancient, artisan jewellery techniques cost a heart-breaking $19,000. The man behind the laces, Colin Hart told: I walked into a building with a family who were making the most beautiful hand woven bracelets. The thin threads of gold and silver they had manufactured looked like hair. I wondered how long they could weave them, like a shoelace… I got a set made and they look awesome – and to my delight, they worked as well.
Adding to their exclusivity, only ten pairs of the shoelaces will ever be made and will be delivered by security and laced for you anywhere in the world.
If $19,000 is a bit steep for you, you can opt for the Silver version, which are only $3,000, plus they’ll allow you to order up to 30. [Mr.Kennedy]
