British motorcycle manufacturers Triumph have launched a Steve McQueen themed bike. It is inspired by the legendary Triumph Trophy TR6 that McQueen insisted on riding during the famous stunt scene in The Great Escape – actually it was Bud Ekins who performed the famous jump (not because McQueen didn’t want to but because the studio bosses wouldn’t let him). The limited edition Steve McQueen’s Triumph Bonneville T100 Bike features a matte green paint scheme with Triumph logos stenciled in black along the bikes tank and McQueen’s signature on the side covers.
There’s also a bunch of blacked-out parts like the headlamp, wheel rims and hubs, handlebars, luggage rack, rear springs, mirrors and front mudguard supports. A single seat with luggage rack has been fitted to the T100, along with a skid plate for covert trips behind enemy lines. The retro look is finished off with a military stencil-style Triumph decal on the gas tank.
Cooler than a polar bears paws, the bike is super exclusive with only 1,100 examples being produced. Each of the bikes will have a numbered plaque, and also a signature of Steve on the bike’s chassis. A certificate of authenticity will also be a part of the package. More specs and pricetag to be revealed at Triumph’s EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, at press conference on 8 November.
