In 2010, Jeff Koons was asked by BMW to design an M3 GT2 as part of the automaker’s ongoing Art Car project. American artist, best known for his balloon animals cast in stainless steel and massive topiary sculptures (we wrote about his iconic sculpture of a Pink Panther) has done his job perfectly.
When Koons was asked to contribute a scale model of the BMW M3 GT2 he considered it a very special challenge, which is why he consulted with BMW head of design, Adrian van Hooydonk, on how best to model the air inlets and wings. So, now you can have your own version in 1:18 scale model, featured on the BMW M3 GT2 that raced in Le Mans.
1:18 scale model of BMW M3 GT2, in all its streaky multi-colored glory is now art that you can own, available starting in December through the BMW Shop. It comes packaged on an acrylic platform with transparent top, and can be your for a price tag of $224 a piece.
