Master of Malt has announced the release of the world’s oldest whisky liqueur. The rare, limited edition 55 Year Old Speyside Whisky Liqueur was created with single malt drinkers in mind, and rather than masking the core whisky with sweetness, just a little natural sugar and spices were added to accentuate the rich, sherried flavours and malt notes.
Describing the nose of the whisky, experts say that it has a beautiful vintage touch of Sherry cask maturity that lends strong elements into the aroma. Also unfolding with it are subtle elements manuka honey, nutmeg, ginger, cloves with even finer elements of pine and white truffle. On the other hand, the palette has generous parts of white truffles and sage butter, with juicy barley malt, freshly ground black pepper, nutmeg and ginger spices.
A Master of Malt statement said: We made this with one goal: to create a stunning whisky liqueur for single malt whisky drinkers, and we did it by basing our recipe on a staggeringly good 55 year old sherry-matured whisky liqueur from one of Scotland’s most famous distilleries.
The limited edition liqueur, which has a price tag of £999.95 (approx. $1,570) a bottle, is available exclusively from Master of Malt.
