It’s a known fact that Japan always gets the coolest PS3s. The latest special edition system is something that will particularly interest anime fans. One Piece: Pirate Musou is coming out in Japan on March 1, 2011 and it’s the first time a game based on that particular anime/manga is coming to the system. To honor that fact, Namco Bandai and Sony are releasing the PS3 One Piece: Pirate Musou Gold Edition.
The matte gold 320GB console features a white etching of Luffy, star of the Once Piece manga series, and like all slim models, it isn’t compatible with PlayStation 2 games. The bundle, which also includes the One Piece game, a wireless Dualshock 3 controller, and One Piece custom theme, will sell for ¥38,170 (about $490), and the game will also be available separately for ¥8,190 (about $105). There is also a Treasure Box version of the game which includes 9 custom themes, a guide book, the soundtrack, and some collectible pins for ¥12,390 ($159).
The gold (but not Magic Gold) One Piece Edition PS3 will be available for Japanese market only.
