Roger Dubuis, the Swiss watchmaker, specially designed the Velvet Collection for the 2012 Geneva watch show. Inspired from the Diva, the Velvet collection is bold in shape. The highlight of the collection is 18-carat pink gold timepiece which is encrusted with 66 diamonds totalling to about 1.33 carats. Also the watch sport has a 36 mm dial and runs on the RD821 calibre self-winding mechanical movement.
The dial comes with Roman numerals which seem to hover between the central barrel and the circle, creating a trompe l’œil on two levels. The brushed centrepiece at the front bears the Roger Dubuis name with a brushed sunray effect. The 6 and 12 hour markers are set in pink gold. Finish with a curved crystal that covers the dial, the watch sports an aura of light bracelet done up with 196 diamonds that amounts about to 1.65 carats. The signature cabochon glass and diamond bracelet perfectly matches with exquisite details of the case.
The Roger Dubuis Velvet automatic watch is powered by completely in-house manufactured, hand decorated, mechanical self-winding movement which has earned the mark of the Geneva Seal. The Geneva Seal, issued by the Canton of Geneva to a small number of manufacturers, represents an official guarantee that the watch and its functions operate correctly. It also certifies that the watch movement is made by hand, assembled and regulated in Geneva and that it complies with the strict requirements laid down for fine watchmaking.
