The Diamond Jubilee Faberge Egg, the golden prize on offer for the winner of the world’s biggest Egg Hunt has been unveiled by actress Emilia Fox. The glittering egg, worth £100,000 ($157,000), is decorated with 60 gemstones, including diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires – one for each year of the Queen’s reign. It was created by Faberge and unveiled at the famous jeweller’s central London boutique. It is hoped the dazzling prize will attract enough participants to The Faberge Big Egg Hunt for it to break the record for the biggest.
The egg hunt would send luxury lovers on a wild hunt across London to locate over 200 eggs decorated by big names such as Bruce Oldfield, Sir Ridley Scott and Zandra Rhodes. Each egg features a keyword that need to be texted to 80001. Funds raised through the event will support charities like the Elephant Family and Action for Children and the decorated eggs used for the event will go under the hammer when the hunt finishes at Easter.
The Faberge Big Egg Hunt is an enchanting event which will capture the hearts, imagination and interest of everyone taking part, said Action For Children chief executive Dame Clare Tickell.
Sarah Faberge meanwhile commented: We are thrilled to be involved in a fun-filled public project exploring creativity across so many artistic disciplines, and raising funds for two exceptionally deserving charities. I would personally like to thank all the artists involved.
The Faberge Big Egg Hunt ends at Tuesday 3rd April. [The Faberge Big Egg Hunt]
