To celebrate AMG’s birthday, which takes place in June 2012, Mercedes-Benz is building a limited edition SL 65 AMG 45th Anniversary model. Based on the recently released 630 hp SL 65 AMG, the new SL 65 AMG Anniversary Edition will be limited to only 45 units and will go on sale in September 2012. Each individually numbered V12 roadster comes in a brand new and extremely exclusive matte Magno Graphite color. The car is treated with numerous high-gloss chrome applications as well as a bevy of spectacular carbon fiber adornments inside and out.

The matt finish brings out the contours of the aluminium body in particularly striking guise. An interesting contrast is added from the highlights in the form of high-gloss chrome applications. The Exterior of the anniversary model is equipeed with Carbon-Fiber package in matt finish. Genuine carbon fiber with satin finish is applied to the cross strut in the front apron, the exterior mirrors and the spoiler lip. In addition the 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine includes the same approach: the high-quality engine cover consists of matt carbon fibre and aluminium.
Next, the AMG sports exhaust system delivers unmistakable engine sound from the outer surround of the twin tailpipe, which comes in black with chrome plating. The inner insert is finished in high-gloss chrome. The perfect look of the vehicle is completed thank to the AMG multi-spoke forged wheels painted in titanium grey with high-sheen rim flange and matt finish. The car sits on 255/35 R 19 tires at the front and 285/30 R 20 at the rear.

On the inside you will find it upholstered in designo Exclusive style leather in titanium grey pearl or ginger beige, with electrically adjustable AMG sports seats, embossed AMG emblems on the seat backrests, and designo nappa leather roof lining in ginger beige featuring special stitching details in AMG V12 diamond pattern.
There are many, many features to explore, but here are three that bought our eye, such as: a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround sound system; NECK-PRO head restraints; Panoramic vario roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL; Automatic, pop-up roll-over bars for driver and front passenger.
This is not the first anniversary model AMG has produced. AMG has also created a limited special model to mark its 40th birthday. The 40 cars produced then as the CL 65 AMG “40th Anniversary” edition in 2007 have since become valuable collectors’ items. Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance AMG brand was founded in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. Over the past 45 years the former two-man company has evolved into a world-renowned producer of unique high-performance automobiles.
