Earlier in May, we talked about the renowned luxury shoe designer Christian Louboutin who has took it upon himself to design a modern day update of the famous glass shoes, about which almost every girls on planet dreamed at least once. Now, his fairytale became true, his limited edition Glass Slipper in honor of Disney’s Cinderella Diamond Edition has saw the daylight in Paris on July 4th!
There’s no glass in this modern-day version of the shoe, but this magical shoes which are in fact a little flowery and very ornate, reflect Louboutin’s classic style with his signature red soles. To evoke lightness, he used white lace, Swarovski crystals and two delicate, shimmering butterfly for decorating this princess-worthy sky-high 120mm heel.
“Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairy-tale love, but also shoes”, Louboutin said. “Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale.”
World’s loved shoes have been unveiled just in time to mark the animated picture’s release on Blu-ray and DVD this fall. Perched in royal fashion on a red cushion, and protected by a castle-like structure, this magis slippers were shown alongside stills and sketches from the making of the 1950 animated Cinderella film.
Only 20 pairs of the Cinderella shoes will be produced, Disney announced Wednesday. According to USA Today, the pairs will be given away worldwide this fall, and Disney and Louboutin will release details on the giveaway next month.
