Due to high demand on the local auto market, Land Rover has recently announced that the Defender XTech Limited Edition has been extended into the 2012 model year. Essentially same as last year’s model, but with noticeable alterations, new Land Rover Defender XTech special edition will be available in the UK later this month with a sale price of £27,995 ($43,300).
What makes this model different from its predecessor is its unique Nara Bronze or Orkney Grey exterior, headlamp surrounds, black roof, black Saw Tooth 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in MTR off-road tires, black chekered plate for the sills and bumper, wheel arches and some minor interior modifications, such as the Land Rover logo embossed front headrests and black leather.
The 2012 Land Rover Defender XTech Limited Edition is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, producing 266lb ft of torque (360Nm). Also standard on this special edition are a rear-step bumper entry and exit, heated seats, heated windscreen, traction control, ABS, air conditioning and central locking.
For those who are looking for a Defender that’s legal to drive in the U.S., however, its replacement could be coming here in 2015.
