As sponsors of the Olympics (since 1932), OMEGA also introduced the Seamaster 1948 Co-Axial “London 2012”, and now for the first time in the history of the Ryder golf cup, OMEGA will be the official timekeeper for this year event. Specifically for this occasion, luxury watchmaker has introduced its new watch – Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Captain’s Watch, which will be worn by team USA’s captain Davis Love III.
This special edition watch has a 41.50 mm brushed and polished stainless steel case with a polished bezel and polished/brushed combination stainless steel bracelet. Its polished screw-in caseback has a sapphire crystal that allows a clear view of the watch’s movement. Powering the Captain’s Watch is OMEGA’s exclusive Co-Axial caliber 8500 with a Si14 silicon balance spring. The dial is also covered with sapphire crystal and features the vertical “teak-pattern” lines found on the Aqua Terra line of watches.
The watch face is pretty simple with 11 hour-indices that are made out of 18k white gold; the missing index features a date window at the 3 o’clock position. Blue hands get the Super-LumiNova treatment and the central seconds hand has a yellow tip. The OMEGA logo on the dial and the words “CO-AXIAL CHRONOMETER” are red as are the non-numeral markers on the minute track. It is water resistant to 15 bar / 150 metres / 500 feet.
