Lady Gaga has now joined not-so-small number of celebrities who have launched their own fragrances in the past. Created by Coty, Lady Gaga’s new Fragrance is the first-ever black eau de parfum which alludes to the dark side of fame. It will be unveiled in September!
To promote her first fragrance, Lady Gaga is shockingly naked, well, not completely naked: she wears a black mask and has tiny creepy men climbing all over her body (on a first glance, seems like large spiders) in a way that doesn’t quite reveal all. She displays the egg-shaped bottle — an ode to her infamous egg entrance at the 2011 Grammy Awards — and the bottle is covered in golden claws, like the ones Mother Monster wears on her paws!
The ad was shot by photographer Steven Klein, who previously worked with Gaga on the music video for “Alejandro.” During an appearance on the Australian radio program The Kyle and Jackie O Show last year, she teased that signature scent will smell “like an expensive hooker.”
Her experience during shooting ads, pop star shared via Twitter and her new social media site littlemonsters.com for all her fans to gawk at!
“I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous. it’s been a while since i’ve shared some work with you. But i’m so proud of Steven+I, we really did not sleep! (sic),” she wrote.
Last year, Lady Gaga said about the smell: “[Blood and semen] is in the perfume but it doesn’t smell like it. You just get sort of the after feeling of sex from the semen and the blood is sort of primal. And the blood was taken from my own blood sample so it’s like a sense of having me on your skin.”
Thankfully, the fragrance is actually well balanced mix of three main accords dark, sensual and light. The dark accord was inspired by the deadly plant belladonna, and features incense, the sensual accord includes honey, saffron and apricot nectar, while the light accord features crushed tiger orchid and jasmine sambac.
Fame’s eau de parfum comes in an egg shaped bottle with a gold ‘claw’ top, and is prized at $79 for 100 ml. the 50 ml bottles will cost $55, and the 30-ml., costing $42. A 10-ml. rollerball version will sell for just $19, which makes it accessible to all her fans.
The Fame collection will also include three related products: black soap, $15, due out in August, black shower gel, and black body lotion, hitting stores in November.
