Two guns, once belonged to Bonnie and Clyde, one of the most legendary duo outlaws in American history, is now expected to make real “shot” when come on auction block in New Hampshire on Sept. 30. The weapons were found on the outlaw lovers after they were gunned down in an ambush by Texas Rangers in 1934. Now, 80 years later, the interest for these guns is huge, given expected price of of $100,000 and $200,000 for each.
The Colt .45 was found in Clyde Barrow’s waistband, and the .38-caliber Colt was strapped to one of Bonnie Parker’s legs on May 23, 1934, when they were killed in an ambush near Gibsland, Louisiana.
Bobby Livingston, vice president of RR Auction in Amherst, New Hampshire said: “This is one of the finest Bonnie and Clyde collections you will ever see. We expect the guns should sell anywhere between $100,000 and $200,000. But really the sky is the limit for these types of guns.”
Except guns, at the auction will be offered a letter that Clyde wrote to his brother L.C. Barrow on the back of a photo showing a house on a platform surrounded by water. He signed it “bud,” his code name when he was on the run. Also on offer are a gold pocketwatch Clyde was wearing when he died, as well as Bonnie’s lipstick case, Coty face powder and powder puff.
