Despite the enormous richness and ostentation in every respect, the Middle Easte couldn’t boast with the supercar originated on its continent. As this region is home to some of the most fancy car customisation trends, from mirror-like chrome to gold-flaked paintwork and diamond-encrusting, it was only a matter of time until the first supercar proposal emerged from the Middle East (unless we count a concept built some years ago for the late unlamented Muammar Gaddafi). And, finally it’s here.
Beirut start-up company called W Motors has announced that it will produce two different lines of vehicles, the Hyper-sport and Super-sport, modestly described as the “most exclusive, luxurious and technologically advanced hyper cars in the world.” With the help of Austrian manufacturer Magna Steyr, German Porsche specialist Ruf and Studiotorino, a young design studio based in Rivoli, W Motors will produce only five these supercars that will feature some technological advancements (inside and out) like no other in the world.
According to the W Motors media release, its flagship model will have signature, diamond-encrusted LED lighting, a gold-plated bonnet and either gold or platinum ignition keys. It will also have lightweight chassis made from carbon fibre and the world’s first fully functional holographic display with interactive motion.
There is no word from the manufacturer about the specifications, but if trusted to the rumors, supercar will feature a 750 PS (740 bhp / 552 kW) twin-turbo flat 6-cylinder in the mid-rear position. 0 to 100 km/h is estimated to be 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 385 km/h (240 mph). Also, there is no word about the price.
The supercar will be unveiled in Dubai December this year followed by the public launch at the Qatar Motor Show in January 2013. First deliveries are expected to start by end of 2013. [W Motors]
