Heath Hall, the lavish mansion from 1910, built for sugar tycoon William Park Lyle of the Tate & Lyle family has became the Britain’s most expensive house for sale, due to its whopping price of £100 million ($158 million). Located in The Bishops Avenue, Hampstead – London’s most exclusive street, also known as Billionaires’ Row, this house has been returned luxury shine in 2006, since it had previously been in neglected state. Andreas Panayiotou, Chairman and CEO of the Ability Group, invested £40 million ($63 million) to restore it to its former glory.
“The restoration of this beautiful Grade II listed property has been a labor of love. My vision was to restore it to its former glory; remain faithful to its classical, arts and crafts and Scottish Baronial architecture and retain the ornate, period details that make the property so unique; but at the same time create a home that offers the ultimate in luxury living,” said Panayiotou, in the brochure.
The mansion spreads over 2.5-acres of stunning plush gardens, and features six main living areas with high ceilings and lots of natural light, 14 bedrooms, all with either an en suite bathroom or adjoining bathroom, drawing room, dining room, family room, sun room and snooker room. There is even a panic room with a toilet, basin, control panel and separate telephone wires that can’t be cut to keep you safe. Throughout the house can be found Italian carpentry and hand-carved marble basins, all earlier prepared in Italy before being transported to the property. There is also a wine cellar with the capacity to hold 647 standard size wine bottles in a temperature controlled environment, a gym, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and an impressive white stone swimming pool. Additionaly, there is also a swimming pool in the gardens done in black mosaic.
If you want to make sure of Panayiotou’s words in the brochure, you’ll have to pay £2,000 ($3,000), and that’s not all – the stamp duty alone will cost the buyer £7 million ($11 million) and it is so exclusive that potential buyers will have to undergo a vetting process by agents Glentree Estates. Buying the most expensive property in Britain requires the same expensive preparatory actions.
