Two renowned companies, Virgin Atlantic and Swarovski, both synonyms for luxury have teamed up to create special extravagant on board accessory – a limited edition eyeshade worth £2,500 ($4,000)! Designed to give passangers The Most Expensive Night’s Sleep Ever, each eye mask is adorned with more than 3,000 red, white and blue crystals! The crystals on the eye masks were all hand applied by Saima Anwar, an artist who also creates crystal eyelashes for celebrities such as Katy Perry. It took ten hours per mask to create.
To mark the launch of their new amenity kits which are now appearing on board all Virgin Atlantic flights, the airline has created five limited edition eyeshades, that feature stunning sunglasses designs from the classic Wayfarer to the iconic shutter shade that pops up in Kanye West’s videos. The airline introduced new amenity kits for its economy, premium economy and first-class passengers on Sept. 1
“As the majority of our flights leave at night, arriving in London in the morning, we want to make sure our guests are well rested to begin their days, whether they be traveling for business or pleasure,” said Chris Rossi, senior vice president North America.
Virgin and Swarovski cooperate since 2003, in their first class cabin has Swarovski crystals on the walls, and recently unveiled curtains adorned with the over 1,000 Swarovski crystals on their new first-class section of their A330 aircraft.
Limited edition crystal-encrusted eye masks will be hidden on flights around the globe, so only five lucky passangers will get the chance to get it, while passengers travelling in economy will receive a new amenity kit containing eyeshades featuring one of six fabulous sunglasses designs, including a pair of heart shaped sunnies, John Lennon-esque circular specs and some 80s retro shades. These kits are charcoal gray pouches made from recycled plastic bottles. The pouches have silk linings and are designed to double as travel wallets. For first class, they will have the same pouch only larger and it is designed to fit a tablet or e-reader.
