Sir Elton John decided to get rid of excess the cars. We have earlier told you about Elton John’s 1975 Bentley Corniche convertible offered for sale at Bonhams in June this year, and now his 1987 Ferrari Testarossa is up for grabs in Australia. Luxury car, the Rosso Corsa- painted Testarossa actually had been a gift for his 40th birthday by MCA records, in March 1987. This car normally sells between $50,000 to $75,000, but since that Elton John once had it, the asking price for the car is $196,000.
According to the seller, the car is in pristine condition, its odometer shows less than 20,000km (12,427 miles) from the moment when the car had left the factory in Maranello. The car also comes with original tool kit, service records and documentations that have been signed by Sir Elton John himself.
Built in 1984-1991, Ferrari Testarossa (Italian for redhead, referring to the red cylinder-heads on the engine) was powered by a 4.9-liter flat-12 engine which delivers 390 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. It has been known for its wide stance and finned side air takes and can speed from 0-96kmph (0-60mph) in about 5.2 seconds and can sprint up to 180mph (289kmph). An interesting characteristic of the Testarossa are the five louvers on the doors that feed the air intakes for the radiators. This feature has been copied by subsequent mid-mount sportscar designers to this day.
