Some of the world’s most exciting cars were unveiled at recently held 2012 Paris Motor Show. Such one example is definitely Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car, that is “an outlook on a possible Porsche sports car of tomorrow”!
The Sport Turismo Concept is a parallel hybrid, which means that the wheels can be driven by the electric motors, the gas engine, or both at the same time. Powered by an evolution of Porsche’s current hybrid system used in the Panamera S Hybrid, the Sport Turismo Concept’s new “e-hybrid” system uses the 333 hp (245 kW) supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and a 95 hp (70 kW) electric motor for 416 hp (306 kW) and a 30 km (18 miles) electric range. When working together, they accelerate the concept car from zero to 100 km/h in less than six seconds. It should also be able to reach 130 km/h, or about 80 MPH, on electric power alone. Also, its fluid-cooled lithium-ion battery can also be charged in just 2.5 hours, depending on the the power supply, via a charging interface on the vehicle.
Inside the car, there is a a large central TFT colour display to provide all needed information to driver, as well as two monitors on each side of the display, that show images from the “exterior mirror” cameras, and even a touchscreen starting process. Two additional displays in tube form provide information on the hybrid-specific driving states, e.g. pure electric driving, as well as other functions.
The Panamera Sport Turismo will reach showrooms in 2016, and production is expected to take place alongside the successor to the current car, which means we can expect a variant of the second-generation Panamera.
