If you remember science fiction comedy from 1985, Back to the Future, then you certainly know it’s about time traveling. But do you remember a time machine made from a modified 1981 DeLorean DMC-12? Although, the production of this iconic car lasted only for two years, Swiss luxury watchmakers RJ-Romain Jerome pays tribute to this eighties legend – the DeLorean automobile by unveiling new timepiece, made with steel from an actual DeLorean.
In collaboration with the DeLorean Motor Company, RJ has realised only 81 examples, in reference to the year in which DeLorean started construction. Watch case is in stainless steel measuring 46mm wide with a dial design that evokes the original DMC-12, with the sub-dial at 9 o’clock patterned after the car’s tail lights. “DeLorean-DNA” medallion engraved on the case back. The black strap is made of upholstery leather and features anthracite grey stitching similar to the interior of the DeLorean car.
The timepiece is driven by Romain Jerome’s in-house RJ-001-CH 23-jewel automatic mechanical movement with 42-hour power reserve and chronograph function. The RJ DeLorean DNA Watch will be priced at $15,900.
