Maserati has finally released official images of the 2013 Quattroporte, due to be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. Designed and developed by Maserati and Ferrari engineers in and around Modena, 2013 Quattroporte represents the classic Maserati design improved with some modern additions to gain even more elegance.
2013 Quattroport, Maserati’s most powerful luxury sedan, is more generous in size than the previous model. The front grill, three side vents and the triangular C pillar are retained from its predecessor, while a new muscular hood, and car length belt line are all new for 2013. At the rear, a new exhaust system design and horizontal tail lamps round off the exterior styling updates.
“Inside, the design of the Quattroporte aims at essentially, stressing the simplicity of lines and the full functionality of the on-board instrumentation. Functional elements are blended with soft quality surfaces made of prestigious woods and refined leathers,” said the head of the Maserati design center, Lorenzo Ramaciotti.
Details of the engine and the performance of the new Quattroporte have not yet been released, although we know that the engine itself is going to be produced at the Ferrari plant in Maranello. There probably will be a V8 under the hood, which is rumored to be naturally aspirated and put out around 520 hp, as well as a bi-turbo V6 option capable of making around 420 hp.
Maserati’s goal is to sell 50,000 units a year by 2015, “It is a growth that will be based on three new models entering two new segments of the automobile market – and it starts with the all-new 2013 Maserati Quattroporte,” said Harald Wester, Maserati CEO. The other two models are a new SUV called the Levante, and a new small sedan called the Ghibli.
